Accents: Highlights of the February Issue

This month, in place of an editor’s letter, we’re debuting a new monthly feature emphasizing some of the best moments of the February issue, behind-the-scenes secrets and more.

Location, Location, Location

The Villa Marre always serves as a stunning backdrop for gatherings held on its historic grounds, and it was picture perfect for our cover story photoshoot with this year’s Heart Ball chairs.

Standout Quote

“We understand the importance of minority- and women-owned businesses because behind these companies, there are creative, innovative entrepreneurs who are making a difference in Arkansas.”

– Esperanza Massana Crane, “Land of Opportunity”

Moving Forward

The “150+ Black-Owned Businesses to Support in Little Rock” blog post written amid the civil unrest in 2020 continues to be one of our most-searched-for articles, and was the inspiration for our new Soirée Spotlight: Black-Owned Businesses promotional section, which we hope to see grow in coming years.

On-Set Favorite

“One of my tried-and-true favorite products is the Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner from STILA. On the top lid, I do a thin line right at the lash line. Then, with a small, flat, angled brush, I go right over the liquid liner with eyeshadow and blend. This softens the harsh liquid line and hides any imperfections. The liner comes in some really fun colors, but the black is a staple for my makeup kit.”

– Lori Wenger, hair and makeup artist

One Last Day in Little Rock

Soirée marked our 20th anniversary last March, and to keep the celebration going all year, we resurrected our “Day in Little Rock” series written by a different local each month. To close it out, our publisher Mandy Richardson penned the final DILR, and it’s packed with local love.
