Meet Hattie! At 7 years old, she brought confidence, an easygoing attitude and great listening skills to the set of this month’s Soirée Kids shoot, not to mention her own budding sense of style. Here are a few of the first-grader’s favorite things:

School subject: Art

Place in LR: The River Trail. I love riding my bike with my dad. It’s our weekend ritual.

Book: Any Junie B. Jones book

Activity: Gymnastics (really, tumbling)

Snack: Oranges. Fruit is my favorite!

Part of being on set: When my mommy told me I was going to have my picture taken for a magazine, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But it was so much fun! I got to dress up and even got “styled.” When can I do it again?

“What a treat it was working with a full family chairing an event together!” art director Emma Devine says of our cover story with the Soup Sunday supporters. “We had the best time meeting all the Steligas, and once we learned it had been some time since they had a full-fledged family portrait, we were excited to be able to bring them all together for a new one.

“We wanted to set the scene for soup season, so we looked to one of our fave style icons, Ralph Lauren, for cozy cabin vibes. We pulled vintage wooden furniture from Galaxy, added a few rugs and dressed everyone in snuggly sweaters in soft, earthy colors.”

“When a child’s critically sick or injured, their family needs to be by their side. It’s essential, not optional.”

Even in the dreary depths of wintertime, fun fashions will never cease to light us up.

“As soon as I spotted these leopard print tights at Barbara/Jean, I knew I had to pull them,” stylist and editorial contributor Josie Burnett says. “These aren’t your average black tights. They’re edgy and funky. They instantly make any outfit feel more fun, and they’re durable, too. Animal prints are definitely back, and you can still style them in a way that isn’t outdated or overdone.”
