Accents: Highlights of the December Issue

An emphasis on some of the best moments of the new issue, heartfelt family ties, mouthwatering set pieces and more.

A Family Affair

While photographing our Goodness Village story, our afternoon with Jada Jackson turned into a delightful family affair. Her son Nyair and sister (and bone marrow donor) Shelby joined Jackson on set to cheer her on, with a little help from “Bluey” in the background to keep everyone entertained.

On the Farm

Nearly 10 years ago, we photographed philanthropist Sharon Bale on her sprawling family farm for a story about Our House. We were thrilled to be welcomed back to their stunning grounds for this month’s cover story on Arkansas Children’s with Brooke and Hunter Bale, and even more happy to see one family’s love of nonprofits passed on to the next generation.

What’s for Brunch?

Sometimes we get to make our personal dreams come true on set, and our decadent holiday brunch board was definitely one of those times.

“There are so many ways you could arrange these items, and each way it would look and taste amazing,” says stylist Josie Burnett, adding that narrowing down which bites to include was a tough, but tasty choice.

The other dilemma?

“It was torture being around all that food and not being able to try any of it until afterward.”

Standout Quote

“They need to know a different life is possible.”

Leigh Graham, owner of Diane’s Gourmet and recipient of Women & Children First’s 2025 Peacekeeper Award
