An emphasis on some of the best moments of the new issue, spring fashion details, a little on-set magic and more.
Artistic Vision
For the better part of a year, we’ve been impatiently waiting for the chance to do a fashion shoot at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, and commemorating the first anniversary of its opening this month seemed just the right moment.
The day began at 6 a.m., giving our team a unique view of the space before dawn with no one else around. But the AMFA wasn’t just a set, it wove itself into our shoot as it came to life throughout the day. We borrowed a theater department dressing room and caught glimpses of a daytime performance for students. We used accessories from the AMFA Store to pull together some of our favorite looks. We even fueled our day with the Park Grill menu.
The new AMFA may only have been here a year, but we already can’t imagine Little Rock life without it.
Collector’s Items
It will come as a surprise to no one who knows Fred Scarborough that his bow tie collection is a sight to behold. What you may not know is that his shoe collection isn’t too shabby either. While photographing his closet, we got a look at his lineup of Christian Louboutin shoes including a fully gold pair, a red pair and some high-tops.
Standout Quote
“It’s really important to me to be a part of something bigger than myself.” – JoBeth McElhanon, founder of Lilias & Olive and event designer for Camp Aldersgate After Dark
Getting the Shot
Sometimes it takes a little bit of faith and more than a little imagination to make a shoot happen, like with this issue’s feature on the Arkansas Repertory Theatre.
“The Branmans and Jacksons were so graceful while making this concept come to life. They harnessed their inner actors, really embraced the drama and went for it!” art director Emma Devine says. “It’s hard to imagine we shot indoors with ladders, apple boxes and fans thanks to Jason Master’s photo magic skills. The final results have our subjects reaching for the stars and dreaming big for The Rep.”
A New Look
In between magazine deadlines, our website recently underwent a complete redesign, and we couldn’t be more excited about the end result. Expect a whole new look, new categories to navigate and all the Soirée content you know and love.
