AAC Shakes Things Up With Multiple Locations for 2020 Delta Exhibition

The Arkansas Arts Center’s 62nd Annual Delta Exhibition in 2020 will be structured differently than in years past.

The exhibition is to be held at various locations within the metro area: the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock, and the Thea Foundation and Argenta Gallery, both located in the Argenta Arts District of downtown North Little Rock.

The relocation of the 2020 exhibition is due to significant construction on the AAC in MacArthur Park. On Oct. 1, the AAC held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of construction on its new facility, for which they are in the process of raising $128 million. The construction is expected to complete in early 2022.

In the meantime, this means venue changes for the Annual Delta Exhibition.

“We are always looking for opportunities to create strong community partnerships and deepen the community’s engagement with the arts,” says AAC executive director Victoria Ramirez. “With this Delta Exhibition, we have an opportunity to bring the art into our communities and to celebrate art made in and about this region.”

Showcasing artists living and working in Arkansas and its border states, the Annual Delta Exhibition encapsulates “a vision of contemporary art in the American South.” Founded in 1958, the exhibition seeks to provide a distinct perspective of the Delta region and features work in all media.

Entries for the 62nd Annual Delta Exhibition will be open Jan. 13 – March 22. Any artist living in or born in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma or Texas is eligible to be featured. All work must be completed during the last two years and must not have been previously exhibited at the AAC, and featured works and award winners will be selected by a guest juror.

Exhibition dates and details for the 62nd Annual Delta Exhibition will be announced in the coming months.
