The Top Dog Parks in the Metro

Every week, we round up a list of events to get you out of the house and enjoying all the fun things the area has to offer on weekends. There’s the Museum of Discovery for the whole fam and the Toddy Trolley for the rest of us, but somewhere along the lines, we’ve got to give Fido some love.

Luckily, our sister publication, Little Rock Family, has the same love for pups as we do. That’s why they put together a list of the seven best dog parks in the metro. Take a look at a few of the local favorites.

Paws Park at Murray Park

Dogs roam in two shaded acres at this park near the Arkansas River and close to the Arkansas River Trail. Visitors can hang out on picnic benches, while pets splash in fountains and swimming tubs. Located at Murray Park on Rebsamen Road, Little Rock. For info: PawsParks.com.

MacArthur Unleashed Dog Park

Opened in 2013, this two-acre dog park is located in MacArthur Park in downtown Little Rock with a nearby pond and playground. The dog park includes rocks for climbing, water features and watering stations, and a separate area for dogs under 30 pounds. Located at 601 East 9th St., Little Rock. For info: MacArthurParkLR.com.

Burns Park Dog Park

North Little Rock’s massive Burns Park is nearly 1,700 acres of soccer fields, tennis courts, an amusement park and more. A small portion near Victory Lake is dedicated to a dog park, and is a great stop for those exploring the Arkansas River Trail with their four-legged friends. Located at Burns Park, W. Military Drive, North Little Rock. For info: NLRPR.org.

Sherwood Dog Park in Fairway Park

This community park has a gazebo, playground structure and a seasonal outdoor pool. Pets can have their own fun in the dog park—shade, seating and drinking water for the pooches are all included. Located at 800 Fairway Ave., Sherwood. For info: CityOfSherwood.net.
