Detox After The Holidays With These Five Smoothie Recipes

After thoroughly overindulging in all manner of libations during the holiday season, it may be time for a detox. Here are five detox smoothies to help you get started and feel rejuvinated for the new year. 

Holiday Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 large oranges, peeled and quartered
  • 1 apple, quartered and cored
  • 1 – 16 ounce bottle of Kombucha
  • 3 ounces (3 cups) fresh spinach

Instructions:

Place the oranges, apple, and kombucha in the blender. Blend on low until the fruit is broken down, this makes room for the spinach. Add the spinach to the blended fruit and blend, increasing your speed to high and blend until smooth and creamy in texture.

Energizing Green Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 handfuls organic baby spinach
  • 2-3 large kale leaves, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 large banana
  • 1 pear, diced
  • 1 cup strawberries, green tops removed
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1 (1 inch) chunk fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey or raw agave
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • Fresh raspberries as garnish (optional) 

Instructions:

  1. Add all of the ingredients in blender. Blend on high for 1 minute or until the smoothie is smooth and creamy. Add to a large glass or divide the mixture between 2 smaller glasses. Garnish with raspberries or other fruit and chia seeds. 

Carrot, Mango and Herb Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks
  • 1 cup fresh carrot juice
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs, such as mint, tarragon, or basil 

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a blender; blend until smooth. 

Beet and Blueberry Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium raw beet, skin on, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup blueberries, frozen
  • 1/4 cup cashews
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp Stevia or 1 Tbsp good-quality honey or maple syrup
  • Handful of ice

Instructions:

Combine the ingredients above into a powerful blender until smooth and creamy. Thin with water or thicken with ice if desired. Enjoy!

Almond Antioxidant Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups almond milk or another milk of your choice
  • 2 cups frozen antioxidant fruit mixture, feel free to adjust fruit amounts however you like
  • 2-3 tablespoons honey, adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Layer ingredients into the blender in the order listed. Puree until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired. Enjoy!
