WOMEN TO WATCH

Casey Kines

Employee Benefits Consultant
Legacy Capital Group

I am an employee benefits consultant for Legacy Capital, which is a corporate benefits firm dedicated to providing comprehensive benefits programs to a broad range of successful businesses and municipalities. I joined Legacy after gaining the “experience trifecta” of working on the carrier and sales side of corporate benefits and then owning my own benefits firm. The Affordable Care Act changed everything about our business, and as regulations became more complex, I knew it was in my clients’ best interest for me to join a local firm with national scope.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

Best career moment so far:

It’s hard to choose! The day I officially joined Legacy was a great day because I knew it was the right move for myself and my clients.

How did you know this is what you wanted to do?

My first mentor was a successful life insurance agent that believed in solving problems and not “selling.” He was pure class and demonstrated a personal side to insurance everyday that I knew I wanted to emulate in my own career.

Best advice you’ve ever received:

Make two appointments a day for sometime in the future.

I wish I knew how to:

Speak a foreign language.

If you could lunch with any woman, who would it be?

Hands down my Gran. She used to bring me to Little Rock to shop, and we would eat at Trio's and order chicken salad. My office is right beside Trio's, and I still think of her every time I go.

Most rewarding part of your job:

When I earn the trust, respect and confidence of a prospect, client or anyone that I am trying to help. When I reach that point, I am able to truly advise them on what is in their best interest.

How you define success:

To me, it is the culmination of personal and professional achievement and being genuinely satisfied with whatever that looks and feels like to myself exclusively at the end of the day.

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Don’t settle. When someone shows you who they really are, believe them the first time. Don’t be afraid of being assertive or refusing disrespect. Always trust your inner voice because she knows what’s up.
