Why did you choose to get into financial advising?

I started my career at an early age while working part-time in college at a local investment firm. I didn’t really know my career path at the time but quickly became fascinated by the financial industry and investing. I enjoy the opportunity I have to create long-lasting relationships with my clients as well as the ability to help them live out their financial dreams.

What sets yours apart from other firms?

UBS is connected to the global economy like no other wealth manager, uniquely integrated into cultures, markets and economies around the world. Our open architecture platform allows me to choose from a wide range of customized options both inside and outside of UBS to help my clients meet their needs and achieve their goals.

What do you like best about your job?

I enjoy listening to people and their stories of how and what made them successful. I love face-to-face human interaction. My success depends on listening to my clients and their needs at different stages of their lives and evolving my business to respond to those needs. Now, many clients are seeking advice not just on their investments, but on other matters that impact their overall wealth.

Do you have a niche clientele?

The majority of my clients are business owners or professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc.). I also work with small businesses, advising them on retirement plans and other corporate employee benefits.

What makes your customer service outstanding?

As a client, you can trust that your needs and circumstances are the drivers of the solutions I provide. It’s easier to make the right decisions when you’re guided by advice you can trust. My first priority is to talk to the client about their personal and professional goals. I maintain that open dialogue so the course of action we decide on is relevant and reflects the client’s life and circumstances today.

What’s your investment philosophy?

Portfolio management must begin with the study of the history of capital markets. Today’s markets are complex, in transition and often in turmoil. My portfolio designs attempt to avoid significant downturns. It is losses, especially large ones, that destroy the rate at which capital compounds. I try to design my portfolios to achieve stable growth with minimal volatility, regardless of market environment.

How many hours do you work a week? 40+

Two hobbies outside of work: Coaching my son in athletics, a bit of golf and tennis and a few trips to Oaklawn

Best financial advice you’ve ever been given: Sometimes doing nothing is better than losing money. Don’t let a bad trade turn into a bad investment. Cut your losses early and let your winners run.
