Get ready to tinker, build, experiment and make something new at the 2026 Tinkerfest.
Now in its 15th year, the annual hands-on celebration returns to the Museum of Discovery on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., inviting curious minds of all ages to get creative through science, technology, engineering, art and plenty of good old-fashioned tinkering.
Makers and artists will be on hand to lead guests through hands-on activities and open-ended experiments throughout the museum. With more than 50 activities to explore, there will be plenty of opportunities to take things apart, put them back together, try a new skill or simply see what happens when you start creating.
This year’s activities include:
- bubble art and giant bubble play
- robotics with Harding Academy and the University of Central Arkansas
- printmaking and fabric weaving
- giant Lincoln Logs
- ballapalooza
- car take-apart
- pinewood derby
There will also be a sensory station featuring activities for neurodivergent guests in a calm, soothing environment.
“Tinkerfest is all about giving people the freedom to explore, experiment and discover what they can create,” MOD Executive Director Steven Schnell says. “It is encouraging to witness people of all ages coming together to try something new, have fun and make memories.”
For the first time, Tinkerfest will also spotlight local artists and makers, giving attendees a chance to browse and purchase unique work from members of Little Rock’s creative community.
Whether you’re a budding engineer, an enthusiastic crafter or someone who just really wants to take apart a car, Tinkerfest offers plenty of ways to get your hands busy and your curiosity going.
