2027 is shaping up to be another exciting year of art, creativity and discovery at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
AMFA recently announced its exhibition lineup for the year ahead, featuring everything from iconic fashion photography to contemporary art from across the Mid-South. With celebrated artists, fresh perspectives and thought-provoking works, the upcoming season offers plenty of reasons to explore the museum.
Here’s what to look forward to:

“The Way Things Go: Peter Fischli and David Weiss”
Nov. 25, 2026 – May 16, 2027
Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss turn a chain reaction into an art form in this kinetic installation, which follows a precariously balanced sculpture as it sets off a domino effect of movement and destruction. The result is an inventive exploration of cause and effect, where ordinary materials and carefully orchestrated chaos become the main event.

“Cecil Beaton’s Fashionable World”
Feb. 5 – May 30, 2027
Renowned as a fashion illustrator, Oscar-winning costume designer, social caricaturist and writer, Cecil Beaton helped transform fashion and portrait photography into an art form all its own. His camera captured some of the 20th century’s most recognizable figures including Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth II and Salvador Dalí, preserving the glamour and star power of the interwar and early postwar eras.

“Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer”
Feb. 15 – March 28, 2027
Presented in partnership with the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, this special exhibition brings the work of photographer Pete Souza to AMFA. Through iconic photographs of Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan, visitors will get a glimpse of the presidents’ lives beyond the public eye, revealing the people behind the office. The exhibition brings together two presidential administrations, two museums and one photographer’s remarkable eye.
Delta Triennial
June 25 – Sept. 26, 2027
AMFA’s signature regional exhibition returns, bringing together contemporary artists from Arkansas and six neighboring states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. The juried exhibition celebrates both emerging and established artists, highlighting fresh perspectives, inventive materials and work that speaks to the present moment. Artists can begin submitting work Jan. 4, 2027.

“Poetic Ecology: Inez Whitfield and Michael Sherrill”
Sept. 11, 2027 – Feb. 20, 2028
Whitfield’s beloved watercolor portraits of native Arkansas wildflowers meet Sherrill’s mixed-media botanical sculptures in an exhibition exploring the natural world through two distinct artistic perspectives. Together, the works offer a closer look at the beauty, intricacy and creative possibilities of botanical subjects.

“Josef Albers: Interaction of Color”
Sept. 11, 2027 – Feb. 20, 2028
Through geometric forms and carefully considered color relationships, Josef Albers explores how color perception is subjective and relative. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider what they see and discover how colors shift in appearance depending on their surroundings.

“The Things We Carry”
Oct. 22, 2027 – Feb. 13, 2028
The artists featured in this exhibition explore deeply personal stories of transformation as they navigate some of life’s most difficult experiences including war, illness, incarceration and migration. Balancing beauty with emotional depth, their work considers courage, hope, healing and transformation, offering a reminder of the experiences that connect us.
