BEST ADVICE I EVER RECEIVED
“When all possible objections must first be overcome, nothing will ever be accomplished.” My great-grandfather’s favorite mantra challenges me to push beyond architecture’s careful precision to engage spontaneous creativity. It also encourages me to just hit “send” on that email.
A SKILL I NEVER EXPECTED TO USE IN THIS FIELD
Designing is both creative and technical, but most importantly, it requires crafting consensus. Understanding different viewpoints and bringing stakeholders together around a shared vision isn’t something taught in school, but it’s an essential part of what we do at WER.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
A career highlight was working with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra on the Stella Boyle Smith Music Center. It’s rewarding to have contributed to a project that supports the ASO’s growing breadth and depth while enriching downtown Little Rock’s cultural landscape.
HOW I UNPLUG AFTER A LONG DAY AT WORK
Connecting with my children is an important daily ritual. “Silly-time” before bed with my three girls is a highlight for us all. It’s an opportunity to unwind, release some endorphins and share a good belly laugh to end the day.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
Immerse Arkansas provides resources to youth and young adults escaping crisis, including homelessness and aging out of foster care. The OC on Asher is an incredible resource center and a home base for the mentoring at Immerse’s core.
