WOMEN TO WATCH

Lydia Lucien Collins

Owner
Full Out Barre

I became an instructor at Full Out Barre in 2021, a boutique fitness studio blending heart rate training and barre into an efficient, results-driven workout. I quickly fell in love with both the method and the community. When Catherine Thorpe presented the opportunity to purchase the business, I was deeply honored to continue the studio’s impact in our community.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

Our people. I love seeing our members become more confident with each class. I’ve watched many of our members transform into more radiant versions of themselves.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

Setting boundaries to protect what matters most. Some days I do this better than others, but I’ve learned not everything is urgent and to intentionally create space for my family.

How I knew this was my passion

As I got to know our members, I saw how one class could shift an entire day. It’s more than a workout, it’s about creating a safe and known community.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

That my business is not just about physical health. It’s about meeting people where they are and encouraging them to be their best, despite what they have going on personally.

Nonprofit I wish more people knew about

Hosean International Ministries.

Best career moment so far

Taking the baton of leadership at Full Out Barre. I believe deeply in our mission of creating a strong community while building stronger, healthier bodies.

Biggest challenges in my career

Finding balance. As a mom, wife, business owner and full-time educator, it’s difficult to show up fully in each role while taking care of myself.

What I learned from my first job

My role as a resident assistant at the University of Arkansas taught me small moments matter. A check in, remembering names and noticing when someone is down are crucial.

The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall

I step away from work to play with my son, reconnecting with joy and giving myself space to reset.
