Mark Your Calendars for the Inaugural Everybody Bikes! Race

If you like bikes and helping others, this is the bike race for you. The inaugural Everybody Bikes! stock-bike race on Aug. 19 will be held on the grounds of the Clinton Center Park. All proceeds go toward Recycle Bikes for Kids.

For the race, everyone will be given identical bikes, provided by Bobby’s Bike Hike. The bikes feature a heavy steel frame, a massive padded seat, seven gears and flat pedals. Outside of adjusting the seat height, no modifications may be made to the bikes. Riders will be responsible for returning the bike in one piece — so don’t get too wild.

Participants can race on their own or with a four-person team. The event will be split into four races: Kids Heat (BYOBike), Individual Heat (Bobby’s Bikes), Team Heat (Bobby’s Bikes), and RatRods (tricked out pixie bikes).

Prizes will be awarded to the winners, possibly some of the losers, and whichever team has the best theme. The Innovation Hub will provide some one-of-a-kind trophies.

Oh, and if biking isn’t your thing, there’s still plenty to do (read: eat). Spectators will be able to enjoy a taco bar courtesy of Southern Salt Food Co., Loblolly Ice Cream, pints from local breweries. Plus, local DJs will keep the party rolling well into dusk.

Tickets for individual racers are $20 and spectators watch for free! For more information, click here
