Oxford American Celebrates 25 Years with Books, Bourbon & Boogie Gala

There’s only one way to mark 25 years of “A Magazine of the South,” and that’s with a Southern celebration titled Books, Bourbon & Boogie.

The Little Rock-based Oxford American magazine is doing just that at its 2017 gala set for Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Center for Humanities and the Arts Theatre on the University of Arkansas Pulaski Tech campus in North Little Rock.

For a quarter of a century, this national publication has dedicated itself to “featuring the very best in Southern writing, while documenting the complexity and vitality of the American South” — all while bringing home a laundry list of national and regional awards.

Headlining the Books, Bourbon & Boogie gala is Lucinda Williams, a singer/songwriter who has held a leading role in the realms of folk, blues, country and rock since the 1970s.

The event includes a pre-concert reception complete with appetizers and drinks. Doors open for the reception at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, Aug. 3, at noon. Get yours online here or by calling (800) 293-5949.
