I focus every day on helping Simmons succeed in the marketplace by finding and developing high-performing leaders, teams and associates and then creating a workplace that lets them operate at their personal best. This requires not only strong hiring and training, but also fostering a great work environment.

PRESSING QUESTIONS
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR:
The moment the retiring SVP of HR at my former employer came into my office, sat down and asked if I’d like to take a shot at her job. It was completely unexpected and very exciting.
HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO?
I thought I wanted to be a psychologist, went into the law and landed in human resources. My career has been less about specific choices and more about being open to the possibilities in front of me.
I WISH I KNEW HOW TO:
Work a table saw, but my husband says I would cut my hand off!
WHAT IS A TYPICAL WORKDAY LIKE?
It’s a balance between dealing with specific, day-to-day issues and pulling up to dream and create the things that will make Simmons exceptional. As you would expect, the work happens via emails and meetings mostly.
BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED:
Slow down, think, ask more questions, take a breath. Don’t just go (which is my natural tendency).
MOST REWARDING PART OF YOUR JOB:
Introducing an innovative program or concept that I believe will make a difference in the business of Simmons. I love the opportunity to do things that make working at Simmons better or that really help the business achieve its goals.
FAVORITE PART OF LIVING IN LITTLE ROCK?
The people are friendly, there’s plenty to do and we get all four seasons.
IF YOU COULD LUNCH WITH ANY WOMAN, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHAT WOULD YOU ORDER?
My grandmother, Maxine Pate. She was one of the most loving, special people in my life. I doubt I would even eat because I’d want to savor every second with her.
