SPONSORED: Summer at the E: Exploration, Enrichment and Everyday Adventure

Presented by:

At Episcopal Collegiate School, summer is more than a break from routine, it’s an opportunity for students to explore, grow and build lasting memories. Serving children from pre-K4 through rising sixth grade, the Summer at the E program is designed to foster creativity, curiosity and confidence through a thoughtful balance of play, enrichment and structure. As part of the school’s broader year-round care programming, the eight-week offering provides families with flexibility and continuity while giving campers an engaging, meaningful experience.

The cornerstone of the program is Discovery Day Camp, which introduces a new theme each week to keep students energized and inspired. Campers might step into illusion-filled fun during “Mysteries & Magic,” embrace outdoor exploration in “Tents & Trails Adventures” or enter a whimsical world in “Alice in ‘Summer’Land.” Other highlights include teamwork-driven challenges in “Spy Camp: Mission Possible,” cultural exploration during “Passport to Fun,” playful competitions in “Carnival Craze” artistic expression in “The Arts @ the E” and a celebratory sendoff with “The Last Luau.” Weekly themes guide spirit days, hands-on projects and group challenges that encourage both imagination and collaboration.

Beyond Discovery Day Camp, students can customize their summer through a wide range of enrichment camps. Offerings span interests and skill levels from bike, cheer, cooking, podcasting, books and brunch and Dungeons & Dragons Club to American Girl Doll camps and partnerships like Nike Camp and Safety Town hosted on campus. New theater and music camps are especially exciting additions this year, culminating in performances that invite students to challenge themselves and showcase their creativity. Each enrichment option is designed to help children develop new skills, explore niche interests and gain confidence in supportive, engaging settings.

A typical day reflects a balance between structure and freedom. Beforecare welcomes early arrivals before campers transition into group activities, crafts, themed challenges and extracurricular experiences such as art projects or time in the game room. Lunch and rest periods ensure younger students recharge, while aftercare provides relaxed free play and social time until pickup. Whether participating in Discovery Day Camp, enrichment sessions or both, students benefit from an environment where they are supported, heard and encouraged to simply enjoy being kids.

Intentional planning underpins every activity. Program leaders collaborate with teachers and academic staff to align experiences with developmental goals, embedding teamwork, problem-solving and resilience into the fun. One memorable scavenger hunt saw younger campers outperform older groups through cooperation, reinforcing lessons in collaboration and self-reflection. These experiences strengthen social and emotional growth while maintaining the joy and spontaneity of summer.

Continuity with Episcopal Collegiate’s school-year routines helps ease transitions for families. Familiar spaces, trusted staff and flexible scheduling — including full day, half day and extended care options — create confidence and convenience, especially for working parents. Most importantly, students return to school with stronger friendships, greater confidence and sharpened listening skills.

“From our dedicated staff to our enthusiastic campers, each person plays a role in making this program so special,” says Katie Beard, associate director of auxiliary programs. “Our summer offerings are truly one of a kind, and I’m already looking forward to all the excitement and growth the upcoming summer will bring.”

For families seeking a summer filled with discovery, connection and fun, Summer at the E offers an experience that lasts far beyond the season.
