Museum of Discovery Launches New Discovery Alliance

Six years after the Museum of Discovery reopened after the $9.2 million renovations, the MoD is looking towards the future — and needs your help to pave the way.

The museum recently unveiled its new Discovery Alliance, a group of museum patrons who are dedicated to the mission and success of the MoD. The 21-and-up, co-ed group will help to ensure the museum’s financial sustainability by planning and hosting events such as the Spark! Luncheon, Spark! gala and Springfest. Springfest will be the first event put on by the Discovery Alliance in April.

“We’ve ‘matured’ as a museum, and now is the right time to look for new ways to keep us moving forward,” says Kendall Thornton, Chief Marketing Officer at the Museum of Discovery. “The members of the Discovery Alliance will work to ensure we continue to grow and stay financially sustainable.”

According to Thornton, there will be different options for people who can only offer minimal time commitments and options for people who have more time to give.

For those interested in joining, the MoD is hosting events to spread the word about the new alliance. The next event, Wine and Whatsitallabout, will be held at the museum on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 5:30 p.m.
