For Arkansas Children’s 20th anniversary Miracle Ball, we knew our shoot with gala chairs and longtime ACH exec Fred and Mary Scarborough would be a special one. We met with their team months in advance to discuss the event’s theme and dream up a shoot inspired by Truman Capote’s legendary Black and White Ball.

The Pulaski County Courthouse’s art deco touches allowed us to portray a shot of the couple en route to the ball, while Barnaby at George’s made for the perfect after-party scene with its cozy, moody vibe. We even photographed the two with masquerade masks worn by Cindy and Chip Murphy at the first Miracle Ball.

“We had a lot of fun with this one, and it’s a great example of how an event’s theme can help us craft the vision and tone of what’s to come,” stylist and editorial contributor Josie Burnett says. “It’s a tiny preview of the magic that will be Miracle Ball’s anniversary gala.”

“It will take a community to stop domestic violence and a concerted effort to quit expecting victims to live in the shadows.”

Local chef and recipe developer Zara Abbasi is always a welcome sight for our team, especially when she comes baring mouthwateringly sweet desserts. This month Abbasi created two decadent dips that are perfect for holiday hosting: a Biscoff cookie-filled recipe she shares on our pages and a dreamy Dubai chocolate recipe you’ll find exclusively on littlerocksoiree.com. Get them both here.

December is undoubtedly the most extravagant time of year, so for our shoot with Ballet Arkansas Board President Dr. Ann Patel, we opted for a more chic and simple elegance.

“Barbara/Jean is now carrying the brand Anine Bing, and this Hunter coat on Ann is one of my all-time favorite pieces. Not only is it incredibly cozy and warm, but the cylindrical belt adds a fun touch without compromising its classic style,” Burnett says.
