MY FIRST JOB AND WHAT IT TAUGHT ME
I was a public defender in Jefferson County and was sworn into the Arkansas Bar by the trial judge just before I gave my first opening statement. In that environment, you have no option but to handle matters head-on.
BEST CAREER MOMENT SO FAR
Early in my career I was involved in a very large, multi-month jury trial defending securities fraud allegations. John Gill, our firm’s founder, pushed me into a leadership role at trial working with some of the best attorneys in Arkansas.
WHAT KEEPS ME COMING BACK TO MY JOB EVERY DAY
The variety of clients and cases that I handle. John Gill taught us all at the firm not to limit our practice to one area of the law. Because of that, every day presents new challenges and opportunities.
NONPROFIT I WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT
Methodist Family Health, although many in central Arkansas are familiar with the life-changing work this organization has done with families and children for over 100 years. I am fortunate to serve the organization as legal counsel.
HOW I KNEW THIS WAS MY PASSION
In law school, my trial advocacy team made it to the semifinals of the regional competition. Successfully competing against schools like Vanderbilt and UNC gave me the confidence I needed to litigate complex commercial cases.
