’90s Mall Party and Outdoor Movies Coming to Downtown in July

Summer 2023 is about to be all that and a bag of chips.

The Downtown Little Rock Partnership will host three ’90s-themed events in July, bringing a time capsule to life with its ’90s Mall Party and Movies in the Pocket Park.

First up is a free screening of “Space Jam” (the 1996 version, of course) at the Main Street Pocket Park at 711 Main St. on Friday, July 7, followed by “Pulp Fiction” on Wednesday, July 19. Showtime is at 8:30 p.m. both nights, and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and get in on concessions at the park.

On Saturday, July 29, the DLRP will bring back its hit Mall Party at the Main Street Mall at 101 East Capitol Ave. This bash will crank up the rad factor with a MTV-style veejay, retro arcade and costume contest while Slick’s Grill transforms into The Maxx a la “Saved by the Bell.”

“We hope this event will bridge the generation gap and unite Little Rock through shared memories and pure nostalgia,” DLRP Executive Director Gabe Holmstrom says. “The ’90s mean so many things to different people, and we are working to ensure you’ll find your experience represented in this amazing space. We want to give everyone — from millennials who grew up during the ’90s to their parents who rocked out to grunge — a chance to relive the magic of this decade.”
