We’ve got a gorgeous weekend ahead of us here in the metro, the perfect cure to those bitter cold, blustery, cabin fever blues. Grab the kids and get out there. And brush your hair first, you animal.

Eagle Lake Cruises at Jolly Rogers Marina
If the cold doesn’t bother you (or if you’ve got a really great coat), join Pinnacle Mountain State Park interpreters for a cruise on Lake Maumelle to seek wintering bald eagles. We weren’t kidding about the coat, though. Dress very warm. Advance payment and registration is required. Cruises are scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Jan. 17.

To the Hill and Back at Pinnacle Mountain State Park
The mountain is gorgeous any time of year. Go see it for yourself on an interpreter-guided hike to a nearby peak. You’re not following a trail (hence the guide), so put on your adventure hat. While you’re at it, grab some sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. This hike will be a moderately strenuous activity. 2-4 p.m. Jan. 4 & 18.
