SPONSORED: 5 Things to Know About the Go Red for Women Luncheon

Presented by:

The annual American Heart Association of Central Arkansas event is right around the corner, so let’s catch you up before the big day.

1. It moved!

The AHA’s 2020 Go Red for Women Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at the Benton Event Center. The signature sponsor for the luncheon is Saline Memorial Hospital, and the 2020 Chair is Katie Lea.

2. What to expect:

This empowering day is devoted to motivation, education and inspiration. The day starts with the Health Expo & Silent Auction at 10:30 a.m. Guests will be able to bid on amazing offers from businesses across central Arkansas, as well as learn more about how to stay heart healthy.

The program will begin at noon and include guest speaker Becky Comet. Becky earned a spot in the final four on season 12 of “The Biggest Loser” where she lost 88 pounds. She will be sharing her message of how to make lifelong changes towards a healthier life and how small steps can make an incredible difference.

3. Prepare to be inspired!

Cardiovascular diseases will impact one out of every three women. These women are our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. Each year the Central Arkansas American Heart Association honors a group of women who have faced cardiovascular diseases. The women who make up the Survivor Gallery represent a sisterhood of survivors who actively, urgently and passionately participate in the movement to raise awareness of the issues connecting women and heart diseases and stroke. Throughout the luncheon guests will hear powerful stories and messages to others.

4. The AHA needs your help to make a difference!

To treat, beat and prevent cardiovascular diseases, women should understand family health history, know their numbers and make lifestyle changes like moving more, eating smart and managing their blood pressure. Arkansas ranks third in the nation when it comes to hypertension. High blood pressure is the number one risk for stroke.

The Go Red for Women Luncheon provides women with education and resources to make small changes in their lives and offers opportunities to support the mission through a donation of life-saving funds.
