SPONSORED: 3 Ways City Year is Driving Change in Little Rock

Presented by:

It’s 7:30 a.m. on a Monday, and City Year Little Rock AmeriCorps members are already hard at work.

From the opening bell to after-school programs and homework helplines, these student success coaches equip central Arkansas children with the academic, social and emotional skills they need to thrive in the classroom and in life.

And their efforts are making a difference. Every day, City Year is driving lasting change for students, schools and the community by:

Enhancing student outcomes: City Year partner schools are two to three times more likely to see improvements in English and math assessments. Students who work with AmeriCorps members also report greater attendance records equivalent to one additional month of learning.

Promoting a sense of belonging: Positive, caring and consistent adult relationships at school are essential for children’s long-term success. City Year is committed to fulfilling this role by providing engaging learning opportunities for all kids, particularly those at risk of falling behind. Approximately 90% of schools agree that AmeriCorps members help students feel a stronger sense of belonging.

Building the next generation of leaders: AmeriCorps members gain invaluable professional development and leadership skills during their years of service. After graduation, 44% remain in the communities they served, where they continue to contribute to the economy, workforce and social fabric. More than 50% go on to work in the education sector, with many becoming classroom teachers.

For nearly two decades, City Year Little Rock has been dedicated to helping all children reach their full potential. Next month, you have a chance to further its impact.

On Thursday, May 26, the nonprofit will host its first-ever Red Jacket Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Pavilion at Heifer Village. Whether you’re a parent, business owner or engaged citizen, this is an opportunity for you to help put Little Rock on a strong path for the future.

Details about the Red Jacket Luncheon are available online here or by calling 501.707.1400.
