In 2003, I founded MLH Designs, a full-service residential interior design firm specializing in kitchens and bathrooms. I derive inspiration from my clients and thoroughly enjoy the process of getting to know each one, from learning and understanding their personality, how they live with their family and interact with friends, to how they want their home to function. I also find inspiration within the architectural character of each client’s home. Whether the outcome is traditional or modern, my creations are typically clean, uncluttered and art-filled spaces.
On Power
People often underestimate the power of a genuine smile. I feel most powerful when I know that I have made a difficult process such as renovation easy for my client. To know that the client is truly pleased and/or surprised with the outcome is a very rewarding experience.
A true sign of power is confidence with a dash of modesty.
On Motivation
The ability to surround myself with architecture and art and the opportunity to transform a client’s home into a space they enjoy makes me smile. I would like to continue giving people the insight and opportunity to make their home both functional and beautiful.
On Success
I’m not sure if I’ll ever consciously “know” that I’m successful; however, I do what I love every day as a designer and a mother — that feels pretty good.
Power Suit
If I want to look and feel “polished”, then all I need is a fabulous pair of shoes — the rest of the outfit is just details. An amazing pair of heels will do wonders for the way a woman carries herself … or maybe that’s just the Southern girl in me talking.
