Kathleen M. McDonald
A former deputy prosecutor, Kathleen McDonald loves the courtroom. “Practicing immigration law has changed how I advocate,” she says. Instead of cases about how people were wronged, her cases are now about why it’s right for people to come to America. “The foreign national might be a skilled surgeon, an agricultural worker, maybe a victim of persecution; I get to focus on their strengths – on how their innovative minds, their entrepreneurial spirits, even their life experiences enrich our culture and benefit our economy.”
Beacon Legal Group’s managing partner received her undergraduate and juris doctor degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. “Out-of-state colleagues sometimes look surprised when they hear what I do, but then I remind them about all the Arkansas corporations that ship overseas and all the foreign companies with Arkansas-based subsidiaries.”
When she’s not working on visa applications or labor certifications, Ms. McDonald often volunteers her time for the Arkansas Bar Association (which just gave her a third Golden Gavel Award), works on our community’s future through the Think Big Little Rock initiative, and spends down time with family and friends.
