Karey Weeks Gardner got her start in healthcare at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in 1988. Working with healthcare providers seemed a natural fit and, after obtaining her law degree in 1994, Gardner went on to hold positions in risk management at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System.
She joined the Health Law Firm in 2005 and uses her hospital experience to assist physicians, clinics and hospitals. “It is difficult for healthcare providers to focus on both the medical aspect and the constantly evolving legal/business aspect of the practice simultaneously,” she says. “We help clients stay abreast of regulatory changes so they can worry about what’s most important to them – providing patient care.”
Gardner advises healthcare clients on their employment issues, including employee handbooks and employment disputes. She also handles matters with a variety of governmental entities, including the EEOC, the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, DHS, Medicare/Medicaid, the State Medical Board and the Nursing Board.
Gardner and her husband, Jerry, enjoy boating, riding their motorcycle and community involvement. They are members and officers in the Rock Rider Chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. She is also on the board of directors for the Arkansas Lions Eye Bank and Laboratory.
