In the capital city’s downtown, large corporations and nonprofits exist alongside urban parks, engaging museums, five-star restaurants and bustling bars and clubs.

Take the family downtown on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the first annual MINDfest. The family-friendly festival aims to promote mental health awareness in The Natural State.

The festival will be doing double duty at two locations throughout the day. Outside in Riverfront Park, vendors will be set up offering hands-on activities to occupy the kids, along with live music, food trucks, and giveaways. Inside at the Ron Robinson Theater, speakers will give presentations on trending topics surrounding mental health.

The inaugural event is hosted by the Mental Illness and Neurodevelopmental Disorder (MIND) Coalition — a new nonprofit organization in central Arkansas. The MIND Coalition seeks to integrate the mental health community in central Arkansas, educate the population on the resources available, and help spread awareness about seeking treatment when needed.
