Recipe: The Fold’s Famous Mai Tai

Whether you’re looking for a margarita alternative or a fruity rum concoction, this frozen treat is the perfect way to liven up your cocktail rotation.

Meet the fabulously classic Mai Tai from The Fold: Botanas and Bar. According to their staff, “A Mai Tai should not be too sweet, too bitter, or too boozy, but a perfect balance of good rum, floral notes, citrus and sweet almond, with focus on quality ingredients.”

So give their recipe a try, but if you’d rather stay out of the kitchen altogether, The Fold is located at 3501 Old Cantrell. Business hours are 11 a.m.- 10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, then back to 11 a.m.- 10 p.m. on Sunday.

 

Mai Tai from The Fold

The Ingredients: 

  • 1 oz. El Dorado 3-year Rum
  • 1 oz. El Dorado 5-year Rum
  • 1/4 oz. Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao
  • 3/4 oz. orgeat
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lime

The Instructions:

Shake all ingredients, pour over ice and garnish with mint, lime wedge, orange slice, luxardo cherry, a flower or a combo of any two.
