New Taco Joint Coming to 3rd Street

And now for some absolutely incredible news: Downtowners, we’re getting a taco joint.

Blue Canoe Brewing Co., located at 425 E. 3rd St., is one of the best-kept secrets in the Little Rock beer scene. If the nano brewery/cozy taproom hasn’t already, it will win over your heart with its new plans to build a taco-slinging restaurant next door in the space previously inhabited by Brown Sugar Bakeshop.

Opening under the name Taco Beer Burrito (we love a straightforward moniker), the restaurant will offer dishes with “one-of-a-kind Mexican flair,” according to BCBC’s Ida Cowan. Patrons can expect a menu with all your favorite Mexican foods, as well as veggie options, an expanded lineup of beers on tap and margaritas.

“This is a totally new direction for us,” Ida said, “but we just hope to make 3rd St. a little more happening, make it a cool place people want to hang out.”

Aesthetically, the new bar will continue the same funky, refurbished flair as BCBC—including 100-year-old pools and a restored high school gym floor.

Since BCBC’s weekend-only hours at its late 2014 opening date, the taproom has expanded to welcome customers Wednesday-Sunday, with hopes of extending even further. Taco Beer Burrito, however, is expected to open its doors 6-7 days a week, including lunch hours.

The Blue Canoe team is looking at an April opening date, so keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates.

It’s Sunday funday & we just can’t wait any longer to announce we’ll be opening TACO BEER BURRITO at BCBC!󾬔󾔗󾦇 We’ve been…
