VIDEO: Chuck Magill on the History of Seersucker

It doesn’t get much more Southern than Chuck Magill standing in the lobby of the Capital Hotel, talking about the history of seersucker. As the director of marketing for the hotel, he exudes that south-of-the-Mason-Dixon charm and sophistication that the 1836 Club’s annual Seersucker Social is all about.

The signature event takes place from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the Old State House Museum, complete with lawn games, hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps and live music by the Big Steel River Band. Dress in your quintessentially Southern best (seersucker not required) and enjoy the springtime weather. There are even prizes for the best dressed guy and gal.

Tickets are available hereFor more information, visit the Old State House website or call (501) 324-8647.

But what’s the South without a bit of history? Happy to oblige, here’s Chuck Magill telling us all about the quintessential Southern staple, in true Dixie fashion.
